Introduction
This virtual case study is created for final year students studying BA Accounting and Finance, or BSc Business Accounting at Middlesex University (MDXTAC).

The case study is created based on a real client’s query at MDXTAC. The purpose of this virtual case study is to provide you with real work experience working with small businesses. This case study also gives you a “taste” of what it is like to be a volunteer with MDXTAC.
After completing this virtual case study (Accounting), you can then upload a short written or self recorded video reflection to MES page. You will be awarded 2 MES marks.

Virtual case study structure
The virtual case study should take approximately 4 to 5 hours to complete. This is a self-paced virtual case study. You can complete all tasks in a day, or spread the tasks over a few days.

Task 1 - Prepare a Statement of Profit or Loss
Task 2 - Prepare a Cash Flow Statement
Task 3 - Prepare a Statement of Financial Position
Task 4 - Prepare a short reflection (in Word or a self-recorded video)

Prior knowledge required?
No specific prior knowledge is required to complete this virtual case study. However, it is designed to bring together transferable knowledge and skills you have developed across multiple modules from Year 1 and Year 2 of your degree.
Bring your confidence – you already have the foundation needed to succeed.

You will be provided with detailed task instructions and answer templates to help you complete each task.
The answer templates have built-in instant feedback comments when you work through each task.
You are encouraged to use AI tools responsibly to help you complete the tasks, just remember to reflect the use of AI in your reflective writing/video for MES marks.

You are expected to complete this virtual case study independently, making use of self-help resources such as the instant feedback comments built into the answer file and any other resources you may find useful.
